Foxconn Plans Adjustments in Production Amid US Tariff Threats

Foxconn, Apple's main iPhone manufacturer, is preparing to adjust its production strategies in response to new tariffs proposed by President Trump, including a potential 25% tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada. Chairman Young Liu emphasized the company's flexibility in manufacturing, stating that Foxconn can shift production between the U.S. and Mexico to mitigate any adverse effects from the tariffs, which he believes could negatively impact the global economy. Liu noted that Foxconn is already modifying its manufacturing plans and collaborating with U.S. partners to align with Trump's goal of boosting domestic production. Despite the challenges posed by the tariffs, Foxconn does not anticipate a significant overall impact on its operations. Liu also highlighted that the company has a longstanding relationship with Apple, which has been crucial for its growth. The tariffs, while paused until early March, still present uncertainty for the global market.
