Russia Develops Advanced Drone Technology

Russian developments in drone technology are advancing amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The Dronoskop-5, a new UAV detection device, is being produced in Novosibirsk with aims for mass production by early 2025, focusing on import substitution. Concurrently, Russia is ramping up production of decoy drones and thermobaric drones at a factory in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, which are designed to overwhelm Ukrainian defenses. The Geran-2, a domestically produced variant of Iran's Shahed-136 drone, has evolved significantly, featuring upgrades in design and electronics for improved performance in military operations. Meanwhile, Ukraine has developed the Lenza drone bomber for its defense forces, emphasizing secure communication and control systems. Additionally, Russia's Ruselectronics has introduced the PRES system to counter FPV drones, enhancing their electronic warfare capabilities.
