Streamers Unveil October 2025 Slates
Studios and streaming platforms have unveiled crowded October 2025 release slates, leaning heavily into horror and seasonal fare ahead of Halloween. Apple TV+ will add Matthew McConaughey’s survival drama The Lost Bus (Oct. 3) and the animated fantasy series The Sisters Grimm. Peacock’s October lineup will include theatrical debuts Honey Don’t (Oct. 3) and the live-action How to Train Your Dragon (Oct. 10), a packed horror roster (Friday the 13th, Scream, The Purge, Poltergeist), family titles like Ghostbusters, and new reality seasons including Married at First Sight and Oʻahu Shores. Major platforms — Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, Paramount+, Peacock, Prime Video and Tubi — have published broad catalogs of films and series arriving in October, with many entries centered on horror franchises. The theatrical season will also deliver anticipated new films such as Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another (starring Leonardo DiCaprio), Dwayne Johnson’s The Smashing Machine, and Scott Cooper’s Springsteen biopic. Prime Video, after a mixed 2025 run for originals, is scheduling Shane Black’s Play Dirty starring Mark Wahlberg and LaKeith Stanfield as part of its October slate.
