Mass Shooting at FSU Leaves 6 Injured, Suspect in Custody
An active shooter incident at Florida State University's Tallahassee campus on Thursday led to chaos as the campus went into lockdown and emergency alerts urged students to seek shelter. Law enforcement from multiple agencies responded swiftly to the scene near the Student Union, and one suspect has been taken into custody. Six people were hospitalized, with one in critical condition and the others in serious condition, according to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare officials. The hospital, which operates the region’s only Level II trauma center, fully mobilized its emergency services in response. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis expressed support for the FSU community and law enforcement in a statement following the incident. Students on campus described confusion and fear as alarms sounded and shelter-in-place directives were issued.
