Minnesota Lawmakers Targeted in Political Shootings

Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman has been moved to a rehabilitation facility after he and his wife Yvette were shot multiple times in a politically motivated attack at their Champlin home. The alleged shooter, Vance Boelter, posed as a police officer and attacked the Hoffmans before their daughter Hope called 911. About 90 minutes later, Boelter fatally shot Representative Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their dog at their Brooklyn Park home. Boelter left behind a manifesto with a hit list and used a fake police vehicle during the attacks. He has been arrested and faces multiple federal and state charges, including murder and attempted murder. Authorities and politicians have condemned the attacks as targeted political assassinations and called for greater civility in public discourse.
