UK Foreign Minister Announces £55 Million Aid Package for Ukraine
During his visit to Ukraine, British Foreign Minister David Lammy announced an additional £55 million ($68.7 million) in support aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s position amid its ongoing conflict with Russia. This financial package includes funds for innovative energy projects, support for Ukrainian businesses, and aid for family and community services. Lammy, who met with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, emphasized that Britain's commitment to Ukraine remains unwavering, reflecting a broader international effort to bolster Ukraine's security. The UK has now provided a total of £977 million in support since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. Additionally, £3 million of the new funds will facilitate the delivery of Ukrainian grain to Syria, aiming to restore relations with the country. Lammy's visit also aligns with Ukraine's efforts to foster closer ties with the new U.S. administration under President Donald Trump, who seeks an expedited resolution to the conflict.
