Evraz Workers Falsified Armor Test Data for U.S. Army Vehicles
A report has revealed that employees at Evraz North America, a Russian-owned steel manufacturer in Oregon, falsified quality control tests for approximately 12,800 armor plates intended for the U.S. Army's Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV). The internal investigation, conducted between 2017 and 2019, found that workers skipped mandatory hardness tests and submitted fake results, compromising the integrity of the armor used in military vehicles. Some of these plates later developed cracks, raising serious concerns about troop safety. The JLTV, which has been supplied to various countries including Ukraine and Israel, has seen over 22,000 units produced, each expected to last around 20 years. Following the findings, the FBI has visited Evraz facilities, and the company is under scrutiny for its manufacturing processes. Evraz maintains that its plates passed independent government testing and emphasizes its commitment to quality production.
