UK Billionaires Drop Amid Tax Changes, Wealth Down

The 2025 Sunday Times Rich List shows the Hinduja family remains the UK's wealthiest, with £35.3 billion despite a drop from the previous year. King Charles's personal fortune has climbed to £640 million, making him as wealthy as Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty. The number of UK billionaires has fallen to 156, the lowest in 37 years, partly due to government tax policy changes affecting non-domiciled residents. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of Manchester United, has seen his wealth fall by over £6 billion to £17 billion, attributed in part to financial difficulties and cost-cutting at the club. Anders Holch Povlsen leads Scotland with £7.7 billion, and Sir Michael Moritz tops Wales with £4.4 billion, though both saw declines. The combined wealth of the top 350 UK individuals and families totals £772.8 billion, a 3% decrease from last year.
