An internal report revealed that numerous applications contained fraudulent information, including fake Social Security numbers, addresses, and phone numbers, some of which belonged to deceased individuals. The DHS is conducting a thorough review of supporter applications to enhance safeguards and prevent further abuse. ICE will investigate identified fraud cases and may refer them to the Department of Justice for prosecution. The program aims to reduce illegal border crossings by allowing migrants to enter the U.S. legally with a sponsor who has passed background checks. DHS has assured that processing will resume with improved security measures after the review is completed.
