19 Judges Appointed, SC Expands High Court Bench

The Indian government appointed 19 new judges to the Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Gauhati High Courts, including both permanent and additional judges, following Supreme Court Collegium recommendations. In parallel, the Supreme Court collegium recommended appointments of advocates and judicial officers across six more high courts: Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh. These judicial appointments aim to address vacancies and strengthen the judiciary nationwide. The Supreme Court also scheduled hearings on critical issues such as the deportation of Rohingyas, manual scavenging, and the review of Enforcement Directorate arrest powers.
