Former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu Named Airlines for America CEO

Former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu has been appointed as the new CEO and president of Airlines for America (A4A), a leading U.S. airline lobbying group representing major carriers such as American Airlines, Delta, United, and cargo companies like UPS and FedEx. Sununu will assume the role on September 9, succeeding Nick Calio, who led the organization for nearly 15 years. The appointment comes at a critical time as A4A advocates for modernization and enhanced safety of the U.S. air traffic control system, following recent aviation safety incidents and technology challenges. Sununu highlighted his commitment to working with President Trump, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Congress, and industry stakeholders to invest in and overhaul the air traffic control infrastructure, aiming to maintain the safety, efficiency, and global competitiveness of U.S. airlines. While Sununu has no prior aviation industry experience, he brings leadership experience from his tenure as governor and his work with New Hampshire’s Department of Transportation. The group praised Sununu's strategic vision and operational expertise as fitting to lead the aviation industry during this transformative period.
