Heavy Security Planned for Trump Inauguration

President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming inauguration is set to be heavily fortified, with nearly 7,800 National Guard troops and over 25,000 law enforcement personnel deployed to ensure security amid potential threats. The preparations include 30 miles of anti-scale fencing and a no-fly zone over Washington, D.C., reflecting heightened concerns following a recent ISIS-inspired attack. Arlington County Police will also employ a new drone program for situational awareness, marking the first time drones will be used for inauguration security. Despite no specific threats to the event, officials are on alert for any suspicious activities. Additionally, Metro services will adjust, with some stations closed, to accommodate the expected large crowds, including 250,000 ticketed guests. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser emphasized the importance of security while defending the expenditures on inaugural festivities.
