Mark Sanchez Charged, Driver Sues Fox

Former NFL quarterback and Fox analyst Mark Sanchez has been charged with a Level 5 felony battery resulting in serious bodily injury after an altercation at the Westin hotel loading dock in Indianapolis; he was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds and was initially booked on misdemeanor counts before prosecutors upgraded the charge. The injured driver, identified as 69-year-old Perry Tole, filed a civil lawsuit alleging Sanchez assaulted him and also sued Fox Corporation for negligent hiring, retention and supervision, seeking compensatory and punitive damages for alleged severe permanent disfigurement, loss of function and emotional distress. Court and police documents allege Sanchez, who investigators say appeared intoxicated, tried to enter Tole’s truck, blocked him from contacting his manager and shoved him, prompting Tole to use pepper spray and then stab Sanchez in what Tole and investigators describe as self‑defense. Sanchez’s first hearing is scheduled for November 4, and his family said he remains under medical care and is focused on recovery while the legal process continues. Fox removed Sanchez from the Colts–Raiders broadcast while the matter proceeds.
