Tesla Posts Record Q3 Deliveries, Europe Mixed
Tesla reported a record 497,099 vehicle deliveries in Q3, up 7.4% year‑on‑year, driven largely by a U.S. rush to buy before the $7,500 EV tax credit deadline. The company does not publish regional delivery breakdowns, complicating assessments, but Europe remained mixed: overall EU year‑to‑date sales were weak while September showed recoveries in some markets, with Tesla the top seller in Norway and returns to growth in Spain, France and Denmark amid steep declines in Sweden. Tesla also reported that large battery and energy‑storage sales surged by more than 80%, underscoring the growing importance of energy products to the business. The company continues to prioritize long‑term projects such as self‑driving taxi services and humanoid robots even as vehicle sales fluctuate. Separately, pilot production has reportedly begun at Giga Texas on a lower‑priced “Model 2” targeted at roughly $27,500, which could materially expand Tesla’s addressable market if it reaches mass production.
