Retired Deputy Killed After Police Shooting Incident

Rodney Hinton Jr. has been charged with aggravated murder after allegedly intentionally striking and killing retired Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy Larry Henderson with his car while Henderson was directing traffic near the University of Cincinnati. The incident occurred one day after Cincinnati police fatally shot Hinton Jr.'s 18-year-old son, Ryan Hinton, during a stolen car investigation in which police say Ryan was armed and fled officers. Prosecutors allege Hinton Jr. deliberately targeted Deputy Henderson, and he is being held without bond for his safety ahead of another court hearing. The deaths have deeply shaken the community, with law enforcement, the Hinton family, and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine expressing condolences and urging calm. Both the police shooting and the deputy’s death remain under investigation. Deputy Henderson, a 33-year veteran, will have his badge retired in his honor.
