Georgia Certifies 2024 Election, Trump Defeats Harris

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger certified the results of the 2024 Presidential Election, confirming President-elect Donald Trump's victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. This certification followed a comprehensive auditing process, including a hand count of over 700,000 ballots and a risk-limiting audit, which showed minor discrepancies but no significant changes in the outcome, with Trump gaining 11 additional votes and Harris losing six compared to the machine count. The election was described as the most secure in Georgia’s history, with a record turnout of nearly 5.3 million voters. Republican majorities in Congress and the Georgia state legislature were also retained. Gov. Brian Kemp is expected to certify the slate of electors, who will formally vote on December 17th.
