Florida GOP Congressman Faces Eviction Over $85K Unpaid D.C. Rent

Republican Representative Cory Mills of Florida is facing eviction from his luxury penthouse apartment in Washington, D.C., due to $85,009 in unpaid rent dating from March to July 2025. The monthly rent for the apartment is approximately $20,833, and court documents show Mills has frequently paid late or missed payments entirely since moving in June 2023. Mills claims a faulty payment portal has prevented him from submitting rent, providing screenshots of failed payment attempts and blaming the landlord for technical issues, while dismissing critical reporting as biased. The landlord, Bozzuto Management Company, has requested the court's permission to evict Mills and require future rent payments to be submitted through the court until the dispute is resolved. Additionally, Mills is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee over alleged financial disclosure violations and campaign finance concerns. The eviction lawsuit coincides with a police investigation into an alleged assault incident involving Mills at the same building, which he denies.
