Biden Administration Provides $383 Million to Alabama Farmers

The Biden-Harris Administration is distributing over $2.2 billion in financial assistance to 43,000 farmers, ranchers, and landowners who experienced discrimination in USDA lending before January 2021. This initiative, part of the Inflation Reduction Act's Discrimination Financial Assistance Program, aims to rectify historical injustices, particularly affecting Black and minority farmers. Payments will range from $3,500 to $500,000, with an average of $82,000 per recipient, highlighting the government's commitment to addressing inequities within the agricultural sector.
