Russian Strikes Kill 25 Ukrainians Including Pregnant Woman, Hit Prisons, Hospitals
A series of deadly Russian air strikes have resulted in significant civilian casualties across Ukraine, with at least 25 people killed, including a pregnant woman, following attacks on a prison, hospital, and civilians queuing for humanitarian aid. The most devastating attack occurred at the Bilenke penitentiary in Zaporizhzhia, where 16 inmates died and over 50 were injured after Russian glide bombs destroyed key prison facilities. Additional strikes hit a hospital in Kamianske, killing three people including 23-year-old Diana, a pregnant woman, and another pregnant woman sustained serious injuries. Ukrainian officials and human rights groups condemned the attacks as violations of humanitarian law, emphasizing that prisoners and civilians must be protected. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for tougher international sanctions against Russia, supported by US President Donald Trump's warning that Moscow has 10 to 12 days to agree to a ceasefire or face sweeping sanctions. Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to claim territorial gains despite the ongoing violence, and Russia has also experienced incidents of bombs and missiles falling on its own territory and occupied regions.
