Cuomo, Sliwa Escalate Attacks on Mamdani
In the final New York City mayoral debate before early voting at LaGuardia, Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa escalated personal attacks on front‑runner Zohran Mamdani, pressing him on his record, ties to radical politics and statements on Israel while also confronting sexual‑harassment allegations against Cuomo. Several of Cuomo’s accusers, including Charlotte Bennett, attended and criticized his debate responses as candidates sparred over policing, experience and controversies. Mamdani defended himself, invoked accusers like Bennett, and said he would retain Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch. Sliwa continued to press Mamdani and refused to suspend his campaign despite calls to consolidate anti‑Mamdani voters behind Cuomo. Moderators kept the discussion focused on records, policing and ballot issues, and multiple outlets judged the debate unlikely to shift the race as Mamdani led by double digits entering early voting.
