Netanyahu plans Azerbaijan visit to enhance ties, discuss Syria

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to visit Azerbaijan soon to meet with President Ilham Aliyev, aiming to strengthen bilateral and trilateral ties, including discussions on cooperation with the US and the Abraham Accords. The visit comes amid Azerbaijan's role as a mediator between Israel and Turkey, particularly regarding talks over Syria, and follows recent technical talks in Baku between Israeli and Turkish delegations to prevent military friction in Syria. Azerbaijan’s President Aliyev has publicly expressed concern over tensions between Israel and Turkey, highlighting Azerbaijan’s longstanding friendships with both countries and its role in past reconciliation efforts. Strengthening bilateral cooperation between Israel and Azerbaijan will also be a central focus of Netanyahu’s visit.
