More than 150 Hamas terrorists recently released by Israel under a hostage exchange deal had been staying at the Renaissance Cairo Mirage City hotel, a luxury Marriott property known as a hub for international air crews. The presence of these convicted militants at the hotel, alongside unsuspecting Western tourists and British airline crews, sparked outrage and media exposure, leading to their rapid expulsion within hours. The terrorists, including high-profile figures involved in deadly attacks, were relocated to a remote, Egyptian-owned five-star resort about an hour from Cairo's airport and city center, where their movements and visitors are now strictly controlled. Despite the relocation, the new hotel remains luxurious, featuring amenities like a swimming pool, spa, and sports facilities, though it hosts fewer tourists due to its remote location. Israeli charity representatives condemned the situation, highlighting the moral outrage of terrorists receiving comfortable accommodations while victims suffer. Some released prisoners may eventually be transferred to other countries in the region, including Qatar and Turkey, under continued security monitoring.
