Russia-Ukraine Drone and Missile Barrage Intensifies
A wave of missile-and-drone strikes between Russia and Ukraine intensified, with Ukrainian prosecutors and satellite imagery saying a Russian strike in Chernihiv hit civilian grain transports and killed at least one driver, a claim that contradicts Moscow’s account. Russian attacks across Ukraine, including a large strike on Lviv Oblast, killed civilians, cut power to tens of thousands, and damaged energy and other civilian infrastructure. Kyiv said it responded with long-range drone and missile strikes that hit the Sverdlov explosives/ammunition plant in Dzerzhinsk (Nizhny Novgorod), an oil trans-shipment terminal in Feodosia, Crimea, and multiple ammunition depots, sparking fires and explosions. Russia acknowledged a major Ukrainian barrage across some 14 regions and Crimea and said its air defenses shot down hundreds of drones and missiles, with Russian figures cited at about 251 downed drones, while some local officials reported only limited industrial damage and scattered injuries from debris. The exchanges are part of an intensifying campaign from both sides targeting critical infrastructure, and Kyiv says it has increasingly relied on domestically produced drones and missiles. Ukrainian leaders condemned attacks on civilians and urged stronger Western support as the fighting has strained power supplies and contributed to fuel and refining shortages in parts of Russia.
