FIFA Selects Eight Cities for 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil
FIFA has officially announced that Brazil will host the 2027 Women's World Cup, marking the tournament's first time in South America. Eight diverse Brazilian cities have been selected as host venues: Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and São Paulo, with iconic stadiums such as the Maracanã and Arena Itaquera included. The competition will feature 32 teams and run from June 24 to July 25, 2027, with Brazil automatically qualifying as hosts. FIFA President Gianni Infantino highlighted the energy, color, and warmth Brazil will bring to the event and emphasized ongoing collaboration with the host cities to ensure a positive impact. The selection process recognized the efforts of all candidate cities, with FIFA expressing appreciation for those not chosen and promising ongoing engagement. Anticipation is high that São Paulo and Maracanã Stadium may host the opening match and final, as Brazil aims for its first Women's World Cup victory.
