Thousands nationwide hold vigils honoring late conservative activist Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University during his "American Comeback Tour." Vigils honoring Kirk were held at multiple universities including Colorado State University, Vanderbilt University, and Middle Tennessee State University, drawing hundreds to thousands of attendees who remembered his legacy and advocacy for conservative values and free speech on college campuses. At Colorado State University, over 7,400 people gathered in a large memorial event that transitioned from a scheduled debate to speeches and remembrances. Vanderbilt College Republicans held a vigil expressing concerns about free speech and violence following Kirk's assassination, while Middle Tennessee State University hosted a candlelight vigil with around 200 people participating. Attendees across these events reflected on Kirk's impact, his faith, and the importance of continuing his work despite disagreements with some of his views.
