California Expands Blockchain Task Force, Adds Snap Inc.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has launched the California Breakthrough Project, an initiative to modernize state government operations through partnerships with technology and crypto industry leaders, including Coinbase, Ripple, MoonPay, and Snap Inc. The advisory group first convened at Ripple’s San Francisco headquarters and will collaborate with state agencies to improve procurement, hiring, and service delivery. The initiative emphasizes transparency, worker input, and ethical safeguards, while highlighting California’s role as a global hub for AI and blockchain innovation. An executive order issued alongside the launch requires every cabinet agency to propose efficiency measures and establishes an Innovation Fellows Program to address operational challenges.
