DHS Searches for 50 Immigrants Smuggled by ISIS-Affiliated Network

A Department of Homeland Security report confirmed that over 400 illegal immigrants, smuggled into the U.S. by an ISIS-affiliated network, were released as they were not on terror watch lists. Since then, 150 have been arrested, but the whereabouts of 50 remain unknown, prompting a hunt by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). These individuals, from countries with poor record-keeping like Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, pose a potential security risk. The Biden administration cited 'an abundance of caution' for its actions, but critics argue the open-border policies enabled the entry. No terror-related charges have been filed against the arrested individuals. Former FBI counterterrorism chief Christopher O’Leary noted the alarming nature of the situation and the necessity of using immigration charges to detain suspects.
