Former Epstein Lawyer Urges Maxwell Release, Testimony, DOJ Unseals Files
Alan Dershowitz, Jeffrey Epstein's former attorney, has urged the U.S. Justice Department to release more investigation records and to grant Ghislaine Maxwell immunity so she can testify fully about Epstein's crimes. Dershowitz emphasized that Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for aiding Epstein, knows critical details about Epstein's trafficking network, including arranging trips involving many individuals. He argued she should be freed or have her sentence commuted in exchange for her testimony before Congress. Despite widespread anticipation among supporters of President Donald Trump for the release of a so-called client list, Dershowitz has stated that such names are not present in the grand jury transcripts being unsealed, though some names have been redacted from FBI victim interviews. The Justice Department recently filed a motion to unseal these transcripts, following Trump's order amid backlash over the closure of the Epstein investigation without further arrests or disclosures. However, legal experts caution that the unsealed documents may not provide the expected revelations, and Maxwell is appealing her conviction based on prior non-prosecution agreements involving Epstein.
