Gaithersburg Man Arrested In Texas For Partner's Murder
Luis Antonio Quintanilla, 39, has been arrested in Irving, Texas, after being wanted for the first-degree murder of his partner, 35-year-old Maritza Ferman Sorto, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The fatal shooting occurred early Sunday morning outside their shared home on Centerway Road, where first responders found Sorto suffering from a gunshot wound; she was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving efforts. Montgomery County police obtained a warrant for Quintanilla following an investigation by the Major Crimes Division, which identified him as the suspect. Quintanilla fled Maryland but was located and arrested in Texas after people aware of the warrant notified the Irving Police Department. He is currently being held in Texas pending extradition back to Maryland to face murder charges. The authorities have not disclosed how Quintanilla escaped to Texas.
