DHS Arrests Man for Bomb Threat at Dallas ICE Facility Amid Rising Attacks
Bratton Dean Wilkinson, a 35-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested after he threatened a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility by claiming to have a bomb in his backpack and showing a device he said was a detonator on his wrist. The incident prompted a shelter-in-place and a bomb squad response, with the scene cleared about 30 to 45 minutes later. Wilkinson faces charges including making terroristic threats and false reporting to induce emergency response. This event comes amid a recent surge in threats and attacks against ICE facilities and personnel, including a white powder incident in New York and violent confrontations in San Francisco. A senior Department of Homeland Security official attributed the increase in assaults to inflammatory rhetoric comparing ICE agents to Nazi Gestapo and other violent labels, urging politicians, activists, and media to reduce such hostile language. Officials have increased security at DHS facilities in response to these threats.
