IBA Appeals to Trump for Boxing's Olympic Reinstatement

The International Boxing Association (IBA) has appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump to intervene in the exclusion of boxing from the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The IBA, previously banned from managing Olympic boxing due to issues with governance and ethics, hopes Trump can facilitate the sport's reinstatement. Despite being stripped of its role by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the IBA is lobbying for boxing's inclusion, highlighting Trump's past involvement in boxing promotion. The IOC organized boxing events at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Games but currently plans to exclude the sport from future Olympics, pending a potential new federation's involvement. Meanwhile, World Boxing, a new body with 60 members including the USA and GB Boxing, is also advocating for boxing's return to the Olympics. The IBA's outreach to Trump underscores their hope that his administration will address these concerns and help restore boxing to the Olympic program.
