Body of Missing Dallas Firefighter Found in Lavon Lake

The body of Dallas firefighter Juan Omar Chaidez was recovered from Lake Lavon near Bratonia Park on Monday morning after he was reported missing following a kayaking incident over the weekend. His overturned kayak and his dog, found paddling alone in the water, prompted an extensive search involving multiple agencies, including Dallas Fire Department, Wylie Fire Rescue, Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The search operations faced challenges such as high winds and submerged trees, with drone operators and dive teams deployed to assist. Bratonia Park remains closed to the public to ensure the safety of ongoing operations. Chaidez's body was taken to the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation. The coordinated effort highlights the community and agency response to the tragic incident.
