Three Migrants Found Dead in Illegal Border Crossings Amid Storm in California

Three people died during two separate incidents of illegal border crossings in the Otay Mesa Wilderness area of California on March 14, amid a severe winter storm. In the first incident, Border Patrol agents found a dead woman and another woman who had made a distress call; they had crossed the border approximately five miles west of the Tecate Port of Entry. Less than an hour later, agents responded to a second call and discovered a 16-year-old girl and two deceased men, one of whom was her father. The girl was hospitalized for hypothermia and later processed by Border Patrol. Authorities emphasized the dangers of crossing in such extreme weather conditions, warning potential migrants to avoid the perilous terrain. The San Diego County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigations and recovery operations for the deceased individuals.
