Singapore's Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed five social media platforms to block 95 accounts linked to Chinese businessman Guo Wengui under the Foreign Interference Countermeasures Act. These accounts allegedly spread narratives about Singapore's leadership tied to a 'foreign actor' and China's involvement in selecting its fourth-generation leader. Guo, convicted of fraud in the US, leads groups opposing the Chinese Communist Party. The MHA cites concerns that these accounts could launch hostile information campaigns targeting Singapore. This action marks the first use of such measures under the FICA, highlighting efforts to combat disinformation and foreign interference in Singapore.
