Russia Launches Massive Drone, Missile Strikes Targeting US Factory, Ukrainian Infrastructure
Russia launched one of its largest overnight assaults in the ongoing war in Ukraine, involving over 570 drones and 40 missiles, targeting multiple locations including a U.S.-founded electronics manufacturer in western Ukraine near the EU border. The attack damaged facilities of Flex Ltd., a multinational electronics company headquartered in Austin, Texas, injuring around 15 people and killing one civilian in Lviv, while also damaging homes and infrastructure in other regions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the strike, highlighting that the targeted facility was a civilian business supported by American investment producing everyday items, and linked the attack to ongoing peace efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump recently met separately with Zelenskiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin to pursue peace talks and has instructed U.S. military leaders to consider security guarantees for Ukraine, including air support, though ground troop deployment remains off the table. Despite Russia's claims that Putin is ready for negotiations, Moscow accused Ukraine of undermining peace efforts and questioned the legitimacy of Ukraine's leadership. Ukrainian officials and NATO supporters emphasize that Ukraine's path to peace lies in robust Western security guarantees, including NATO membership, which Russia opposes.
