Stellantis Delays Electric Ram Truck Launch

Stellantis has announced a delay in the launch of its electric Ram pickup trucks, shifting the expected release from late 2024 to the first half of 2025. CEO Carlos Tavares emphasized that the delay is necessary to ensure quality, as the company faces significant workloads and is focused on thorough testing. The new electric models will be built on Stellantis' STLA Frame platform, which supports various powertrains including electric, hybrid, and gasoline. Alongside the Ram trucks, Stellantis is also launching other electric models, such as the Dodge Charger Daytona and an electric Jeep SUV, but production prioritization is required. This decision reflects the broader challenges in the electric vehicle market, where demand has not met expectations and automakers are reassessing their strategies. Stellantis aims for 100% battery electric vehicle sales in Europe and 50% in the U.S. by 2030, despite uncertainties in the EV market due to changing government incentives.
