Multiple Minor League Pitchers Earn Weekly Honors Across U.S. Leagues

Josh Stephan of the Texas Rangers' Double-A Frisco RoughRiders was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week after throwing five no-hit innings in relief, improving his season record to 6-6 with a 4.98 ERA. Michael Plassmeyer, also in the Rangers organization at Triple-A Round Rock, earned Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week honors with six shutout innings and seven strikeouts. JR Ritchie of the Atlanta Braves' Triple-A Gwinnett was named International League Pitcher of the Week following a career-best 11 strikeouts in six scoreless innings, and is seen as a potential major league rotation candidate as soon as next season. Daniel Guerra of the Dunedin Blue Jays received Florida State League Pitcher of the Week recognition for six no-hit shutout innings, while Austin Cates of the Vancouver Canadians earned Northwest League Pitcher of the Week honors after back-to-back six-inning scoreless outings with 17 strikeouts and no walks. These accolades highlight a strong week for several promising minor league pitchers across different organizations.
