Most Americans Oppose Trump Third Term, Greenland Plans

Recent polling indicates that a majority of Americans believe President Donald Trump is serious about potentially running for a third presidential term, despite the constitutional prohibition, and about controversial proposals such as taking control of Greenland or Canada and sending U.S. citizens convicted of crimes to foreign prisons. While 62% think Trump is serious about a third term, 80% oppose the idea, including many within his typical support base. Similar majorities also think he is serious about attempting to take control of Greenland (68%) and Canada (53%), though overwhelming numbers oppose these actions as well. Notably, belief in Trump's seriousness about these proposals is higher among Democrats and independents than among Republicans, who remain more skeptical but still largely opposed to the proposals themselves. Trump has both entertained and downplayed the idea of a third term in various interviews, adding to public uncertainty. Merchandise promoting a 2028 run is already being sold, further fueling speculation.
