Cowboys Acquire WR George Pickens From Steelers in Trade

The Dallas Cowboys have acquired wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and a late-round pick swap. Pickens, who led the NFL in yards per reception in 2023 and posted 900 receiving yards in 2024 despite missing three games, is expected to bring a significant deep-threat presence to Dallas's offense alongside star receiver CeeDee Lamb. The trade follows the Cowboys' decision not to draft a wide receiver and their limited investment in undrafted free agents. Pickens' tenure in Pittsburgh included some controversy, such as social media drama and on-field altercations, which has drawn criticism from former teammates and NFL veterans. The Steelers were willing to move Pickens after acquiring DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks. Pickens has one season remaining on his rookie contract and will be paid $3.656 million in 2025.
