India Surges in Smartphone Production and Sales

India's smartphone market reached record highs in Q2 2025, fueled by strong performances from Apple, Samsung, and Vivo, and a booming ultra-premium segment. Apple saw its highest-ever Q2 shipments in India, led by the iPhone 16, while Samsung led in market value and Vivo topped unit shipments. Globally, Apple has ramped up iPhone production in India, resulting in India overtaking China as the top smartphone exporter to the US, with India's share of US-bound smartphones rising from 13% to 44% year-over-year. In China, Huawei reclaimed the top spot with 12.2 million units and an 18% market share, while Apple's iPhone sales grew 4% but placed it fifth. In the US, Samsung narrowed its gap with Apple through increased Galaxy A-series sales as iPhone shipments declined. These shifts underscore India's growing importance in both smartphone manufacturing and consumption amid changing global supply chains.
