Record Russian Drone Attack Hits Kyiv Government Building, Kills Child

In one of the largest aerial attacks since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, Russian forces launched over 800 drones and 13 missiles targeting multiple Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv. For the first time, Russia struck Kyiv's central government building, damaging the roof and upper floors, marking an escalation in attacks on the city's administrative center. The assault resulted in several casualties, including at least four deaths in Kyiv, among them a mother and her two-month-old child. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko condemned the attack as an example of Russian barbarism and called for the international community to respond with increased air defense support and stronger sanctions, especially against Russian oil and gas. Ukraine retaliated by targeting the Druzhba oil pipeline in Russia's Bryansk region, a key energy route to Hungary and Slovakia. The attack also caused damage to residential buildings and sparked widespread concern about the intensification of Russia's campaign.
