Five Soldiers Shot, Suspect Arrested at Fort Stewart
Five soldiers were shot and wounded in an active shooter incident at Fort Stewart, Georgia, prompting a temporary lockdown of the Army base and several area schools. The shooting occurred in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area, and the alleged shooter, Army Sgt. Quornelius Radford, 28, was subdued by fellow soldiers and quickly apprehended by law enforcement. Emergency personnel treated the victims on-site before transferring them to Winn Army Community Hospital and, for some, to Memorial Hospital in Savannah. All five wounded soldiers are reported to be in stable condition and are expected to recover. Authorities have stated there is no ongoing threat to the community, and a full investigation is underway. The lockdown on the base was lifted for most areas by early afternoon.
