Nevada Man Jailed for Threats to Officials

Bradley Scott Nelson, a Nevada man awaiting trial for his participation in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, has been jailed for making violent threats against Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett and other public officials. A federal magistrate judge in Maryland ruled that Nelson's 'escalating rhetoric' justifies his detention until a hearing next week. Nelson allegedly posted images of officials such as Attorney General Merrick Garland and New York Attorney General Letitia James with crosshairs on their heads, accompanied by violent commentary. A bond revocation hearing is set for August 14, where it will be decided if Nelson will remain detained until his trial scheduled for December 10. Nelson’s threats followed significant legal actions, such as a Supreme Court ruling and penalties against former President Trump.
