Pahalgam Attack Claims 26 Lives, Suspects Identified
A terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the deaths of at least 26 people, mostly tourists, and injuries to 17 others. Indian authorities have released sketches of the suspected attackers, with the Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, claiming responsibility and justifying the attack as targeting alleged illegal settlers. In response, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, demanding that Pakistan end its support for cross-border terrorism. The attack has also reignited cultural tensions, with the Federation of Western India Cine Employees reaffirming a ban on collaboration with Pakistani artists in light of the violence. Prominent figures, such as actor Ridhi Dogra, have publicly condemned the attack and called for stronger community responses against terrorism. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed that those responsible will be brought to justice and emphasized India's resolve to combat terrorism.
