DOJ Confirms Trump's Pardon Covers Oath Keeper Jeremy Brown's Convictions
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has clarified that President Donald Trump’s pardons extend to Jeremy Brown, an Oath Keeper convicted on weapons and classified document charges, related to the January 6 investigation. Brown had been sentenced to over seven years in prison, but the DOJ now states that his convictions are covered by Trump's pardon. This decision marks a significant shift in the DOJ's interpretation of the pardon, which was initially thought to apply only to actions directly at the U.S. Capitol. Dan Wilson, another January 6 defendant, also had his weapons charges overturned under the same pardon. The DOJ's reevaluation reflects a broader application of clemency for actions indirectly linked to the January 6 events. However, not all January 6 defendants may benefit, as seen in the case of Edward Kelley, whose unrelated conspiracy charges remain unaffected by the pardon.
