USPS Begins Deploying New Delivery Vehicles

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has begun deploying its new Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDVs), receiving positive feedback from postal workers. These modern trucks replace the aging Grumman Long Life Vehicles (LLVs), which have been in service since 1987 and are prone to breakdowns and even fires. The new vehicles feature modern safety enhancements, air conditioning, and ample space for packages, addressing significant drawbacks of the LLVs. Over the next few years, the fleet will expand to 60,000 vehicles, most of which will be electric, as part of the USPS's $40 billion modernization plan. Despite their ungainly appearance, the new trucks are seen as a significant upgrade in terms of comfort, safety, and efficiency. This transition marks a major step in the USPS's efforts to overhaul its aging infrastructure and improve service reliability.
