Amazon, SpaceX NLRB Appeals Face Court Challenges

A panel of judges from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals expressed skepticism about Amazon and SpaceX's requests to block National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) cases, indicating that the companies acted too hastily in bringing their challenges. Both companies are accused of illegal labor practices, with Amazon facing a case related to union activities and SpaceX dealing with allegations of retaliatory firings. The judges suggested that the companies should have allowed Texas judges more time to rule before appealing, which they viewed as an improper imposition of deadlines. If successful, these legal challenges could significantly weaken the NLRB's authority, but even failed attempts have already delayed NLRB cases. The cases, which have been transferred to Washington, D.C., and California, are among the first to reach federal appeals courts amid a growing trend of companies contesting the NLRB's structure. The judges largely refrained from commenting on the merits of the cases, focusing instead on procedural issues.
