Kim Yo Jong Denounces US Denuclearisation Efforts as 'Daydream'

Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has denounced US-led denuclearisation efforts, labeling them a 'daydream' and asserting that North Korea will never abandon its nuclear weapons program. Her comments followed a statement by top diplomats from the US, South Korea, and Japan reaffirming their commitment to denuclearise North Korea. She emphasized that any discussions of denuclearisation are hostile acts against the sovereignty of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Kim Yo Jong insisted that North Korea's nuclear ambitions are constitutionally enshrined and cannot be reversed by external pressure. The ongoing tensions in the region have been exacerbated by North Korea's military cooperation with Russia amid the Ukraine conflict, while diplomatic efforts between the US and North Korea remain stalled. Despite previous meetings between Kim and former President Trump, efforts to revive diplomacy have failed due to unresolved disputes over sanctions and nuclear disarmament.
