Moore, a former Army sniper, earned the Klan's trust with an embellished military background and was selected as the trigger man. His memoir, 'White Robes and Broken Badges,' reveals the intricate planning the Klan undertook, including tracking Obama's motorcade and obtaining .50-caliber rifles. While undercover, Moore participated in Klan rituals and witnessed acts of violence, all while feeding misinformation to prevent the assassination. He notably fabricated a story about Secret Service drones, which caused panic among the KKK members and made them reconsider their plans. This operation marked the FBI's first undercover mission targeting the KKK, ultimately saving Obama's life days before his election as the first Black president of the United States.
