Fiserv to Launch FIUSD Stablecoin by Late 2025
Fiserv, a major payments and fintech company, announced plans to launch a U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, FIUSD, by the end of 2025, integrating it into its banking and payments infrastructure. The stablecoin will use technology from Paxos and Circle and will run on the Solana blockchain, targeting integration with over 10,000 financial institutions and 6 million merchants in Fiserv’s network. Fiserv is partnering with PayPal to ensure FIUSD is interoperable with PayPal’s PYUSD, supporting both domestic and international transactions. The initiative aims to accelerate stablecoin adoption in traditional finance and provide real-time settlement, fraud detection, and risk controls. It also seeks to help regional and community banks compete with larger fintech firms. Fiserv’s shares rose on the news as regulatory momentum for stablecoins grows in the U.S.
